With over 63,700 video posts under the hashtag #Christmascrafts on TikTok, finding inspiration for festive DIY projects has never been easier!

As the holiday season approaches, the experts at Aura Print have explored this year’s most popular Christmas craft and DIY videos on TikTok to discover which festive creations are trending in 2024.

DIY Christmas trees are 2024’s most popular festive TikTok craft! 

1. #DIYchristmastree: 3,022 TikTok Posts

TikTok’s favourite Christmas craft, with over 3,000 videos under its hashtag, is the #DIYchristmastree. 

Within the hashtag there are a variety of different DIY Christmas tree ideas, but, pipe cleaner christmas trees are among the most popular, with some tutorial videos receiving nearly 3 million views. 

To make the Christmas tree, you tie two pipe cleaners together into an upside down V, replicating this four times, before tying them all together to create your pyramid-shape tree. You can then establish the outline of a christmas tree by creating a zigzag shape with a single pipe cleaner before adding this all around your tree. As a finishing touch, pipe cleaner decorations, such as stars, bows or candy canes can be crafted and added to the tree.

2.#ChristmaswreathDIY: 2,328 TikTok Posts

With 2,328 videos under the hashtag, #ChristmaswreathDIY ranks as the second most popular festive craft on TikTok. 

Christmas wreath making has become a very popular Christmas pastime, with online searches for “Christmas wreath workshop” surging by 5000% globally in the past month. There are TikTok tutorials on how to create all kinds of Christmas wreaths, from traditional, to more quirky styles like candy cane or fabric wreaths.

3. #Papersnowflakes: 2,073 TikTok Posts 

With a total of 2,073 videos under the hashtag on Tiktok, creating paper snowflakes to decorate with is a budget friendly and beautiful decoration that you can add to your home.

The paper snowflake is an extremely inclusive craft as you can tailor the difficulty of the paper origami to your confidence level, keeping the snowflake quite simple or investing in a complicated design. Paper snowflakes require just a few simple supplies, like paper and scissors, which makes them accessible for all. There are also patterns ranging from very simple to intricate, so anyone can find a design suited to their skill level.

4. #DIYChristmasornaments: 1,933 TikTok Posts 

With 1,933 posts on TikTok, DIY Christmas ornaments are another popular festive craft for 2024. 

From air-dry clay ornaments to paper christmas stars, creating your own christmas ornaments is a DIY favourite this year! You can find a template for an origami star, such as this one, to create a beautiful Christmas ornament. Experimenting with different colours of paper, adding texture or different decorations on your stars will be really effective to create a unique look and tailor your decoration to your theme. 

5. #woodsliceornaments, 1,713 TikTok Posts 

With 1,713 TikTok posts under the hashtag, #woodsliceornaments are a fantastic DIY project, bringing a rustic, natural charm to your Christmas decor. 

Wood slice ornaments are a great way to express your creativity and create beautiful Christmas decorations. You can save time and effort by buying pre-cut wood slices. This lets you jump straight into the fun part - decorating!
