Leading furniture retailer DFS partnered with Capture Studios for its first Virtual Production shoot, achieving a 50% time saving compared to traditional photography.
Rather than shooting in a set or on location, DFS opted for Virtual Production to create ultra-realistic virtual garden environments, enabling the brand to capture more high-quality imagery at a faster pace.
DFS were able to go from concept to final imagery in under five weeks compared to the standard 10-12 weeks that would be expected if delivered traditionally, while reducing costs with less requirement for travel and transporting props.
Shooting in Virtual Production also eliminated issues such as poor weather conditions for a faster and more flexible shoot without compromising on quality, taking the hero concept and delivering a halo of channel-specific content that's now live across DFS' digital touchpoints, including their website and social media platforms.
DFS is the latest in a string of major brands to use Capture Studios, with clients including Moonpig, KFC, Currys and more.
Riah Skeldon, Digital Marketing Manager at DFS, said: "The Virtual Production photography is sat alongside traditionally shot products on our website, and you would never know the difference. The technology at Capture Studios enabled us to deliver the content we needed, at a much faster pace, without compromising on quality."
Virtual Production saves a huge amount of time on shoots by enabling brands to flick between virtual environments in seconds, rather than building entire new sets or moving to different locations, while also providing a more sustainable alternative to those traditional methods.
Usual post-production requirements, such as retouching, are also substantially reduced in Virtual Production shoots, with the digital environments carefully crafted, pixel by pixel, before the shoot takes place.
Phil Burroughes, Managing Director of Capture Studios, said: "This is a brilliant example of how Capture Studios' tech-powered photography and film enables brands to produce more great content in less time and for less cost - particularly relevant given that's the key challenge facing businesses around the world right now. It's great to work with future-focused brands like DFS, who have embraced Virtual Production, put their trust in Capture and our expert team to deliver what they need, and are now feeling the benefits."
