Ballon D'Or Awards: Messi Wins Men’s Award for Record Eighth Time

Argentina and Inter Miami forward, Lionel Messi, has won his eighth Men's Ballon d'Or award.

Messi's remarkable career is further adorned with this record-breaking eight Ballon d'Or award, placing him several steps ahead of his peers. Karim Benzema was the previous Ballon D'Or winner. 

The 36-year-old maestro continues to break records in football. Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and Messi's greatest rival, is absent from the shortlist, marking the first time he has not featured since 2003. The Portuguese superstar currently plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Lionel Messi Clinches Eighth Ballon d'Or

Messi has done it again. He is the 2023 Ballon D'Or winner. The recognition follows his pivotal role in leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar. 

Lionel Messi holds the records for most goals in La Liga (474), most hat-tricks in the UEFA Champions League (eight), and most assists in the Copa América (17).

Messi has scored over 800 senior career goals for club and country, and has the most goals by a player for a single club (672).
