We live in a world where we only experience a small part of reality. From vision to smell, our senses are all are just small subsets of vast reality that is just waiting for us. I wonder what the role of virtual reality and augmented reality will do the the human experience as act as a tool for expanded human awareness. It's not just an experience, but I believe these new technologies will "shift the curve" of human evolution and transform mankind.
Consider sight. We see just a very small part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Yet this vast energy field--from x-rays to radio waves--engulfs and consumes our reality yet we are only passive participants in this other world. For most, this energy cloak does more that just facilitate our lives, it defines our very existence. Yet, it's something that we really "sense."
But what about this other world--a world that lives beyond current human perceptions? It's as real as can be and one can certainly argue that it's even more real than the "simulation reality" that our brains allow us to currently perceive as the "human" experience. Perhaps it's even true that we live in a simulation. But it's a simulation that is self-defined, even self-imposed! A simulation that is imposed by our brain and constrained by the processor in our heads. And while the VR experience is still limited by our brains, the inputs can be changed and the subility of neuroplasticity may advance both perception and underlying pathophysiology.
So, where does this journey of heightened perception take us? Expanded sensory perception has always been part of the path to God. Unity consciousness, cosmic consciousness and nirvana have also been defining elements of this journey to somewhere or nowhere. I believe that--in a strange and inexplicable way--that God (in the form of an electron or something else) may be revealed in this domaine where perception explodes to a new and amazing reality. A reality that pushes human evolution to new and unimagined places, thoughts, constructs and realities (virtual and real) that make us more human. Advances that make us step onto the exponential path of human evolution to transform and transcend.
And here's the point. It's a reality that was alway there--just as the nose on our face. We were just given the tools to help reveal it....or as the Buddhists say, we have been awaken!
